Any samples in our showroom can be checked out at the front desk! If you’re interested in getting a specific style/color in a larger size, we can order and have that sample shipped to your home (fees may apply depending on the sample/manufacturer). At in-home consultations, our representatives will bring in samples for you to look at in your home to see with your colors and lighting. You are not able to borrow these samples, but they would be happy to order and have samples shipped to you!

We have multiple ways for you to complete your flooring project. If you meet with a representative in our showroom, they will schedule for a measurer to measure your home for that project. An in-home consultation is where you meet with a representative in your home and they bring samples, measure, and discuss your project during that time.
We have a payment system that we run all cards through – you can pay in person, over the phone, or via a specific secured link sent by your representative. We also accept cash, check, and special financing, just ask your representative!

When do I pay?
Timing of payment(s) will vary depending on your project. A deposit may be required prior to your project or ordering materials. Please refer to you representative regarding that deposit. Any remaining balance on your project will be requested upon completion of your project. All materials-only orders are collected prior to ordering materials.
Installations
What will happen on the day of my install?
Depending on what is being installed, and if you or professional movers are moving furniture – all rooms being installed will be cleared and your installer should be arriving between 9 and 11am if no other special arrangements have been made. Installers will be calling you when they are on their way to your home.
What do I need to do before my install?
Move furniture out of the rooms where flooring is being installed. If you have had professional movers included in your estimate, then the movers will typically arrive around 8 am (subject to change, make sure to ask your representative!) – Hardwood refinishing is more invasive, and you may need to make temporary arrangements for housing. If this is the case in your project, your representative will go over the process with you.
What do I do once the installers are done?
Depending on what was installed – you may or may not be able to walk on your new floors immediately. Once you have the go-ahead, furniture may be moved back to their place. Your representative will send you a balance invoice once they have heard back from the installer, and if you are satisfied with your new floors!
Do I need my own installer?
You don’t need your own installer – we have a great team ready to service you! Some of our installers are in-house and some are sub-contractors. If you already have an installer that you want to use, that’s perfect as well, just let your representative know and they will quote you for materials only.
Can your installers do all types of flooring?
Many installers do multiple types of flooring – but not all. Depending on your project, and install schedule availability, you may have multiple installers.
How long will my install take?
Depending on the size and scope of your job, installs have taken from 1 day to 14+ days. For a typical residential home, installs range from 1-5 days.
Maintenance and care
We have basic care and maintenance information for each type of material.
Click on Carpet, Hardwood, Laminate, Vinyl or Tile & Stone above for that information. For more in-depth information for your specific material/manufacturer, please follow the links below!
Shaw recommends using vacuums with a rotating brush or combination beater/brush bar that agitates the carpet pile and mechanically loosens soil for removal. Carpet with thick loop pile construction, particularly wool and wool-blend styles, may be sensitive to brushing or rubbing of the pile surface and may become fuzzy. In addition, shag (or cabled) styles with long pile yarns tend to wrap around the rotating brushes causing damage to the yarn. For these products, Shaw recommends a suction-only vacuum or a vacuum with an adjustable brush lifted away from the carpet, so it does not agitate the pile. Be sure to test a vacuum with a beater/brush bar in an inconspicuous location before regular use, to make sure it doesn't produce excessive fuzzing.
Mohawk recommends when selecting the right vacuum, adjustable height is the most important feature to consider. This enables the machine to be used on a wide variety of carpet constructions. If your vacuum is set too high above the carpet surface, the vacuum can’t attract the gritty soil below. If the setting is too low, the vacuum’s beater bar or brushes can “fuzz” the carpet’s surface, causing it to look worn or frayed.
